Thatcham testing updates

After being contacted by a few customers recently regarding our Thatcham quality assured certification, we thought it would be best to update everyone with some significant changes.

It is common knowledge that Thatchams’ category 3 (mechanical devises) accreditation is the most recognised accolade in our industry and the Disklok has held this approval for pretty much all of the last two decades. We learnt last year that Thatcham had decided to close down the service for Category 3 testing as well as 1 (Alarms and Immobilisers) and 2 (Electronic Immobilisers).

Thatcham’s reasoning was to concentrate resources on emerging vehicle technologies however, they will continue to support existing certificate holders (as of December 1st 2016) with their accreditation until December 31st 2018. This means that insurance companies will still recognise the Disklok range as Thatcham quality assured for this time period. With this change our original certificate has been re-issued with its expiry date extended from 1st Feb 2017 to the end of 2018, therefore insurance companies will still recognise the accreditation.

A copy of our new certificate is below if you need to reference it or you can search it on Thatcham’s website here
